Helen McGhie

Photographic Artist | Researcher

coma, 2017

This project explores my dad's collection of 1970’s ‘Sight and Sound’ film magazines, which he collected in his youth and gifted to me in mine. Looking at the images of women in this collection, where science-fiction shapes bodies as possessed or technologically-mediated. In light of the #metoo movement that has revealed gender-related exploitation  within the film industry,   I wonder how these images may have impacted society's attitudes towards women.
